What is Noostar

If you have talent - show the world.
Noostar's aim is to be the best possible showcase for every form of talent from singing, dancing, and comedy all the way to parkour, beat boxing and fire-eating. Performers of all sorts can video their performances, upload the results to Noostar and invite their friends and fans to enjoy the results. By voting and commenting friends and supporters will help performers promote their careers.

Every week the votes of the Noostar audience will create a chart of the best performances. The main Noostar chart on the home page will show the performances from every genre that have received the most votes. In addition to the main chart there are genre specific charts that rank the performances specific to Music, Dance, Comedy, Magic etc. As time goes by we will run additional specialist competitions and celebrity appearances to give our performers more, better ways to shine. We will also be promoting Noostar to industry insiders so performers will have a chance to be discovered by the best agents and agencies.

Who can register as a performer?

Anyone aged 16 or over can register as a performer on Noostar.

Do I have to pay to be on Noostar?

Appearing on Noostar is free - we want to encourage as many people as possible to take part.

How do I upload a performance?

You will need to register as a performer, click here, and then you can upload your performances by clicking on the upload button on the header.

What types of performance are you looking for?

What have you got? Singers, dancers, runners, jumpers, beat boxers, comedians and the indefinable. If you entertain, provided you're not profane or pornographic, we'd love to see you on Noostar.

Do I have to audition or enter my performance for a specific chart?

No. All videos that are successfully uploaded and pass moderation are automatically entered and can begin gaining votes as soon as they hit the site.

How do the weekly charts work?

The 'voting week' starts at 4:01pm GMT on Fridays. As performances begin to gain votes they will rise and fall in the chart. At 4pm GMT on Friday voting closes and the final chart order for that week is determined. Then, much like the music charts, the process starts again.

Every performance that receives a vote will be placed both in the main overall chart and the chart specific to the type of performance. For example your brilliant juggling performance might be the most voted upon circus performance and make it to No. 1 the Circus chart whilst being No. 6 in the overall chart.

Are votes for performances or performers?

The chart topping performance will be the performance with the most votes. As a result a truly amazing performer with a range of awesome performances could potentially feature more than once in the chart

Can I upload more than one performance?

Once you are registered you can upload as many performances as you like. When you upload a new performance anyone who has registered as your supporter will be automatically informed by e-mail.

Are there any restrictions on performances?

Performances must not be obscene, racist or otherwise offensive.

How can I sign up as a performer?

You will need to register - using the Register feature at top left of each page on the site - and then complete the Account Details and Performer Profile forms. To complete your registration you will need to respond to an e-mail request for confirmation. Once you have confirmed your registration and filled in your details you can upload performance videos, images and downloads. You can also include details of events at which you are performing and write entries for your blog. Registering with Noostar automatically gives you a web address with your user name e.g. www.noostar.com/johnsmith. Use this address to promote yourself - send it to friends, include it in your press releases, link to it from any other websites you appear on.

How can I upload performance videos?

There is a full set of upload tools in the My Account section of the website. Log in, go to My Account and select the Performances tab. Then follow the instructions on screen.

How can I increase my chances of winning?

Make more great videos and post them on the site - Noostar has facilities which will publicise new material as it gets posted. Tell your friends to come and vote for you - send them your personalised Noostar url (e.g. www.noostar.com/johnsmith).

How many times can I vote?

As many times as you like with one restriction, the maximum number of votes per person per performance per day is 5.

Can I vote for myself?

Yes, if you are a performer, you can vote for yourself. The same rules apply

What happens when I sign up to support a performer?

When you sign up to support a performer you will be notified every time they post new material on the site and at other times when they may need your support. Notification is by e-mail. To receive notifications you will need to allow Noostar permission to send you e-mails.

How can I change which performers I support?

The performers you support are listed in the My Account section of the website. You can support as many performers as you like

What should I do if I see a performance that is offensive or inappropriate?

There is a flag as inappropriate button underneath each performance video. Please use it to report any obscene, racist or offensive material.

How can I change my preferences and my profile?

All your preferences and profile data can be edited in the My Account section of the website. To access My Account you will need to log in.

Who can see my information?

Your privacy settings can be edited in the My Account section of the website. Private data including your e-mail address, password and date of birth will not be made public.

How can I close my account?

There is a 'Close My Account' facility in the My Account section of the website. Log in and access My Account and follow the instructions on screen. You will need to confirm your request to close your account by responding to a confirmation e-mail.

I can't upload a performance, what should I do?

Uploading videos to Noostar requires that you have the latest version of Adobe's Flash Player installed in your web browser. You can ensure you have the latest version by visiting http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer and following the installation instructions. If you still have problems please contact helpdesk@noostar.com

My performance says "This video has failed to convert", what should I do?

Digital Video comes in many different forms so before we can show your video on Noostar we first need to convert it to a standard format to ensure it can be seen by everyone with a web browser. If your video has failed to convert there are a few things you can do:

• Make sure it plays as expected on your own computer.
• Make sure the file type is supported by Noostar's video converter. For a full list of our supported file types please click here

If the video looks correct on your computer and is of a type supported by Noostar, please email us on helpdesk@noostar.com including your username and the title of the video and we’ll get one of our technicians to have a look at it for you.

What types of video file can I upload to Noostar?

Noostar supports all the major video file formats including:

.asf - .asf format
.avi - .avi format
.flv - .flv format
.m4v - raw MPEG4 video format
.mov,.mp4,.m4a,.3gp,.3g2,.mj2 - QuickTime/MPEG4/Motion JPEG 2000 format
.wmv - Windows Media Video format

My video says "This video has failed moderation" what does this mean?

Noostar aims to be a great place for audiences of all ages to come and discover new talent. With this in mind we have a moderation policy which we apply to all uploaded performances. The policy exists to ensure that no performances containing obscene, racist or otherwise offensive material are posted to the site.
