Hola Senors y Senoras!
I'm now on Twitter (chortle!), please follow this link if you wish to follow me and I will most certainly do the courtesy of following you back: http://twitter.com/Mickeyray85
You know I was reading an article on MSN today about pop stars who met an early demise (Hendrix, Buddy Holly, Aaliyah etc.) and I couldn't help noticing how an alarming number of them involved plane crashes. You know when I visited Lima (the Peruvian capital) via crossing the Atlantic last year, everyone on board clapped upon landing. I'm still trying to decide if that's a 'Well done Pilot you must be bloody tired!' clap or a 'Yay we're alive, let's politely applaud our merciful lord for not finishing us all off for our relentless farting in an enclosed space!' clap.
That reminds me, has anyone seen the film 'Y tu mama tambien'? It's from like 2001 and it's in Spanish (set in Mexico). For those who speak Spanish the title makes it sound like a comedy but don't be fooled, I urge you to see it cos it's incredible!
This blog has actually said very little about what I'm doing musically so I'd best fulfill that obligation. I currently play guitar and bass in a blues band that has a residency coming up at a venue in Manama (the Bahrain capital) and I mainly spend the rest of my time either teaching or playing the piano alone in my room (much like The Phantom of the Opera or Ted Heath). I love my job here very much but am finding it very hard adjusting to the Islamic culture which, compared to certain other nations in the Gulf, is actually quite moderate. Whenever I come back to England I always feel like singing something patriotic very loudly, there's so much more greenery and I never noticed how much the Seagulls remind you that you're never far from the sea (even in my home town of Watford!).
It's a shame that we only truly appreciate things from afar innit (EMO!).
So I'll just post that link again in case I've digressed from the point of this blog (nudge nudge, wink wink):

Thanks guys and galls!

It's been ages since I've added a blog entry on this website so I'd best let you all know what I've been up to. By the way those of you who don't care what I've been up to, let me just say that my mum thinks I'm the handsomest boy in school so YA BOO SUCKS TO YOU!
Anywho I'm actually working in Bahrain teaching Ex-pats and locals at a music school. It all happened really fast and I now find myself going from 'part time sitter infront of the TV with bottle of wine' to full time guitar and piano tutor in the blistering heat within a very short space of time.
By the way has anyone seen Avatar (stupid question) cos through one way or another I have now seen it three times! For those who are familiar with it, don't you think it's funny how he goes around sticking his tail thing into the tail things of other animals, and first they violently resist and then their pupils dilate and they gradually concede and from thenceforth they have a 'Spiritual Connection?' So basically Jake Sully goes around raping animals for three hours!
Bestiality aside I would like to let anyone who is struggling in their endeavors to take a bit of advice from Mr Lenny Kravitz:
"If you want it you got it, you've just got to believe...
believe in yourself.
Cos it's all just a game, we just want to be loved...
believe in yourself"
Word of advice, don't be too Rock n Roll. For example, about a year ago I was playing my Mexican Fender Stratocaster (the same Guitar that has served me well from my Uni days to present day) and without warning I got really angry for no reason and threw it on the ground. I had done this before previously without any permanent damage (save temporary loss of tuning) however this time my guitar did not walk away unscathed. To cut a long story short I broke the Nut, meaning the strings weren't held in place anymore (no innuendos please) making it unplayable. This my amateur luthier of a father tried to remedy by replacing the nut with a graphite one, however the intonation has never quite been the same. Now I have a very important gig coming up and all I have to get through it is a guitar that I'm not entirely sure I can trust, lesson learned: 'Don't treat things you need like Crap'. Let's just say I won't be having kids any time soon.
Howdy peeps!
Muchos Gracias for your votes so far, please vote again and make me happy forever. As promised I have included in this blog entry a thank you joke for all, even those who haven't voted for me yet. Look how generous I am! I'm like musics answer to Bono!
(Prior to the reading of this joke Mickeyray would like to make it clear that the previous comment intended no offense to Bono, U2 or any fans of his music. Mickeyray is very aware that not only are U2 hugely talented and successful musicians, but that they have influenced nearly three decades of Popular Music and were key in pioneering the Post Punk culture of the late 70's and early 80's)
Now that I've evaded an Industrial Tribunal here's the joke:
What's long, pink and hard in the morning?
The Financial Times Crossword!
Good things come to those who......vote for me many times!
For instance, check out this top notch joke which could be yours if you just gimme your votes: An English Cat named One Two Three and a French Cat named Un Deux Trois set off across the Channel in a swimming race. The English Cat won, why? because Un Deux Trois Cat Sank!
So please, to give these two lovely cats a home just search Mickeyray under music or click on my link....unless you hate Cats.....you don't....hate Cats?....do you......
